2009 SEED DISTRIBUTION
This is my last year doing the Seed Distribution which is extremely sad as far as I am concerned, but our garden is now open 5 days a week and I am needed to do more cutting back and weeding in the Autumn ready for the next year. I hope all old the hands and some new ones will join in with the fun and fascination of collecting and growing plants from seed. It is such a joy to see seed that you have sown coming through. Here are the instructions for sending in seed as per normal.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR DONORS
1. Collect, name, dry and clean your seed (in that order).
2. Write out an alphabetical list of seed you are sending, making sure that the name on the list is the same as on the seed, and that your name and address are on the list.
3. Put your seed into labelled packets, either ones you have to hand, or you can order from me – details below. Seed sent in bulk however small the amount, divided into smaller packets
4. Send it to me at the address given in the service contacts at the back of the newsletter to arrive not later than 31 October to ensure inclusion in the List. Seed arriving after that will not be wasted – it goes into the Distributors Choice packets which are used to make up your order if you have asked for it.
Every member may order 20 packets; donors get an extra 10, as long as supplies hold out. Once the seed runs out, provided you have listed sufficient substitute numbers and have requested us to do so, we will add Distributors Choice otherwise you will only get what is available. There is no question of returning cheques if we can not provide what you want – the seed itself is free, freely given by donors. The charge is to cover the cost of the distribution which is considerable.
Envelopes for seed can be had by sending a self addressed LABEL with a note to say how many envelopes you require and enclosing 1 x large 2nd class stamp per 20 envelopes. These are supplied free of charge and should only be used for sending seed to the Distribution.
The seed list is sent to all members around the end of November before the Christmas postal rush, so that as far as possible everyone receives their copy within a day or so of each other. As in all other years YOU DO NOT NEED TO ASK FOR IT. No seed will be sent out until the beginning of January.
Many thanks to all donors I look forward to receiving your seed and hopefully we will have some new donors again this year.
